Manga, a type of Japanese artwork similar to the more commonly known Anime, has typically been viewed only by fans of comic books and graphic novels. But Ajinbayo "Siku" Akinsuku, a Nigerian theologian, had more enduring ambitions for manga artwork when he created the first ever manga Bible. Akinsuku's vivid use of colors and characters with enthusiastic facial expressions and large eyes sets this very unique biblical story apart. He views his work as both "a way of making a relevant message contemporary" for young readers, and "a spin on how to view the bible differently" for long-time, ardent Christians. In his next manga work, Siku's will portray of the life of Jesus Christ. (Source: NPR)
